County commissioners hold on to seats for another 4 years

Berks County sheriff, register of wills also win re-election

READING, Pa. -

The three men who currently serve on the Berks County board of commissioners each won another four-year term on Tuesday.

Republicans Christian Leinbach and Mark Scott and Democrat Kevin Barnhardt held off a challenge by Democrat David Batdorf.

Leinbach led the pack with 30 percent of the vote. He was followed by Scott with 28 percent and Barnhardt with 24 percent. Batdorf rounded out the race with 18 percent.

The sheriff and register of wills were also countywide contested races in Tuesday's election.

Sheriff Eric Weaknecht won re-election with 65 percent of the vote over his opponent, Dan Billings.

In the register of wills race, Republican incumbent Larry Medaglia defeated his opponent, Democrat Bernardo Carbajal, with 60 percent of the vote.
