Flames lit up the early morning sky over part of Berks County on Wednesday as fire gutted a vacant home.
The blaze broke out around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday at 153 Hecktown Rd. in Alsace Township.
Neighbors told 69 News the unoccupied home had once been a barn for a pig farm. It was sold in 1990 to be turned into a home, the neighbors said.
The barn was recently renovated and sold; settlement was set for the end of the month, according to the neighbors.
