A man has pleaded guilty to third degree murder in the death of his girlfriend in Pottstown, Montgomery County.

Authorities say Carrero strangled 31-year-old Alicia Schmidt at her house in the 400 block of Cherry Street in February of last year.

They say Carrero then called his ex-wife and admitted to choking Schmidt while Schmidt's two children were upstairs.

The children weren't hurt.

Carrero was arrested a few days later in Florida.

Sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
