WOMELSDORF, Pa. -

People in Berks County came together Tuesday night to remember those who lost their lives in the September 11th attacks.

The Womelsdorf Volunteer Fire Department and Trinity Evangelical Church hosted their first Firefighter Memorial Service Tuesday night.

The service honored firefighters who lost their lives in the Twin Towers.

It also honored those who have died in the line of duty nationwide and here at home.

"It's important for the public to understand that when our alarm goes off, we're putting ourselves aside and answering someone's call for help," said Kindall Wann with the Womelsdorf Volunteer Fire Company.

Organizers say they plan to make the service an annual event.
