Firefighters battle fire in Reading
911 caller initially gave wrong address, officials say
Firefighters have gotten control of a fire in Reading, but not without some initial confusion over its location.
Firefighters were first dispatched shortly after 12:30 p.m. to a home in the 1100 block of Marion Street, but they found no sign of fire when they showed up.
The person who called 911 gave dispatchers the wrong location, said Chief David Hollinger, Reading Fire Dept.
The dispatchers then learned the fire was at a home with the same address in the 1100 block of North 6th Street.
The first firefighters to arrive there moments later reported a "working fire." They managed to extinguish much of the fire in less than a half-hour and put it under control shortly after 1 p.m., containing damage to the first and second floors.
No one was injured.
