TOPTON, Pa. -

Shovels hit the dirt in Topton Wednesday.

They had a special groundbreaking for the new ambulance facility in the 100 block of Home Avenue.

The Topton American Legion Community Ambulance Service has been inside a two-car garage for years.

Land for the new facility was donated by the Lutheran Home of Topton.

For some it's a dream that has finally become a reality.

"I have been an EMT since the late 70s, a firefighter also here in the community. I must be honest this is a project I never though that would come to be," said David Reppert of the Topton Community Ambulance.

The ambulance company has been a fixture in Topton since the 1950s.
