Habitat for Humanity dedicates renovated home for family
A family in need is getting a new home, thanks in part to local inmates.
Habitat for Humanity of Berks County dedicated a home on Monroe Street in Muhlenberg Township on Monday.
The home was renovated by volunteers from the Wernersville Community Correction Center.
Organizers said it's a win-win for the homeowners and the inmates.
"What we're able to do is use these individuals, bring them into this home, help us fix it up, create a beautiful home for a family and they're at least able to give back to the community," said Russell Poper, director of construction, Habitat for Humanity.
A dozen volunteers from Wernersville spent four months fixing up the house.
