Birdsboro, Berks Co., took the brunt of the snow from our latest storm.
Up to 20 inches piled up Thursday, and residents trying to clean up have their work cut out for them.
Only the big trucks were called on to shoulder the heavy mounds of snow that blanketed street after street.
The removal was such a heavy task that only two of the borough's eight snow emergency routes have been cleared. Officials said more snow routes will be tackled Saturday.
And then there's the cost. Last winter, the borough used 200 tons of salt. This winter, it's already used more than double that amount, according to borough manager Aaron Durso.
The borough is thanking the residents because officials said absolutely no cars had to be towed off of snow emergency routes.
Authorities said snow cleanup will clearly take them over budget.
