A man wanted for a homicide in Puerto Rico has been arrested in Leesport, police said.
The suspect, Josue Reyes Velez, 20, is wanted in connection with a homicide committed back in July of 2011 in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, authorities said.
Reyes Velez has since been hiding out in a home in the 500 block of S. 14th Street in Reading, under a false name, investigators said.
"It's concerning," said District Attorney John Adams, "when we have individuals who have been implicated in homicides hiding out in our city. These are not the type of people we want here."
Police say the suspect, with the help of his brother, Miguel, managed to obtain a phony Pennsylvania driver's license.
"That is something we will need to look into. But he did obtain fraudulent documents, which enabled him to obtain a license," Adams said.
Both brothers also worked at a company in Leesport, authorities said.
Detectives would not release the name of that company, but they say that, thanks to a confidential source, they were able to start their investigation.
Monday morning, both brothers were arrested at their place of employment.
Josue Reyes Velez is expected to be extradited to Puerto Rico within the month, official say, and his brother, Miguel, is facing a long list of charges, including false identification.
