More than 40 students from the Berks Career Technical Center are volunteering their time to spruce up a national historic site.

The center's horticultural class spent the winter growing plants in their greenhouse.

Tuesay they finally got to plant them here at Hopewell Furnace in Union Township.

The class is planting the park's pollinating, herb, and dye gardens.

"We are really heavily relying on our volunteers to do the programming to make this place come alive, to make it the national park that it must be," said Edie Shean-Hammond.

The project is currently in its fourth year.
