I-LEAD application for charter middle school rejected
The Reading School Board has denied an application for a new charter school in the city. I-LEAD, which currently operates a charter school for high schoolers in Reading had hoped to open a middle school.
The board voted Wednesday night to deny the application. Angel Figueroa, who is a co-founder of the school, said I-LEAD has two options. One is to re-submit the application to the school board with alterations. The second is to appeal to the Pennsylvania Charter School Appeal Board. Figueroa said I-LEAD will make a decision within the next few weeks on how to proceed.
Officials from I-LEAD made their proposal to the board in December.
