Inclement weather impacting local blood supply

The hit-and-miss snowstorms have not been good for business at the blood bank.

Winter typically brings a slowdown in donations because many donors have to fight off the flu or other illnesses.

Inclement weather only makes the situation worse.

It's certainly taking a toll on the supply at the Miller-Keystone Blood Center in Bern Twp., Berks Co.

"Right now, it is low. Inclement weather that's coming up like tomorrow, we did cancel some drives. It'll be hard for donors to get in," said Michele Zurawski.
