Kevin Smith pleads guilty to murder of Reading High School student, David Arango

READING, Pa. -

A man arrested in connection with the deadly shooting of a Reading High School student has admitted to third degree murder.

Kevin Smith pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 16 to 40 years in prison.

Smith, police said, fired the shot that killed 18-year-old David Arango in October 2010.

Children walking to school found Arango's body in a field in the city's Oakbrook section.

Authorities have also charged Allen Thompson in connection with the homicide. He's awaiting trial.
