'Barefoot Contessa' to share love of cooking, entertaining in Reading
Ina Garten, perhaps better known to Food Network fans as "Barefoot Contessa," will visit Reading this fall.
The best-selling cookbook author and specialty food store maven will share her love of cooking and entertaining with an audience at the Sovereign Performing Arts Center on Nov. 13.
Garten once served President Carter as a nuclear budget analyst. She left Washington in 1978 to buy a store, called Barefoot Contessa, in the Hamptons. She then sold it to two employees in 1996 so that she could focus on writing her first cookbook. The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook was published in 1999.
Thirteen years later, the Food Network approached her to do a cooking show based on her cookbooks and love of entertaining.
Tickets for Garten's appearance in Reading will go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. at the Sovereign Center box office and at all Ticketmaster outlets, including charge by phone and online.
Those who buy a $150 ticket will be invited to attend a 45-minute pre-show reception with Garten and have a picture taken with her as she mingles among the guests. They'll also receive an autographed copy of Garten's most recent book.
