READING, Pa. -

An alleged thief got much more than he bargained for after robbing an elderly man at a Berks County bank.

Reading Police say this man robbed an 81-year-old man Friday afternoon near the Wells Fargo Bank in the 1900 block of North 13th Street.

According to investigators, the victim had just used the ATM and was holding the cash when it was snatched from his hands.

The suspect did not get away without a fight, according to police.

Reading Sgt. Matthew Schappell said, "The victim followed the suspect out to his vehicle and there was another altercation at the vehicle, where he was able to recover most of the money from the suspect."

Police say the suspect was last seen leaving the bank in a silver or blue Toyota sedan.

A witness was able to get the first three letters of the license plate, JHR.
