Police have captured a man they said is responsible for a deadly shooting in Reading over the weekend.
Luis Ramos was arraigned Wednesday morning on charges of criminal homicide, first and third degree murder and aggravated assault. He was committed to the Berks County Jail without bail.
Ramos, 29, shot Raymond Miranda twice in the chest in the 100 block of South 4th Street early Saturday morning, police said.
Miranda, 37, died at the scene. A witness told police he was attempting to refuel a vehicle just before 1 a.m. when he was approached and gunned down by Ramos, according to court documents.
The witness said Ramos then fled the scene in a vehicle.
Ramos' last known address was in the 900 block of Franklin Street, authorities said.
Miranda's killing was Reading's last homicide of 2012. Police are still working to solve the city's first two homicides of 2013, both of which happened early Tuesday morning.
Luis Medina was shot and killed in the 100 block of South 3rd Street; Najeeb Johnson was shot and killed in the 900 block of Amity Street. Johnson's body was later found with a crashed SUV a few blocks away in an alley near North 9th and Exeter streets.
Anyone with information that can help police solve those two homicides is asked to call Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913. The crime stoppers group is offering a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest in either case.
