Albright College will be offering its students a new major in digital communications this fall.
The digital communications curriculum will educate students to communicate effectively across media platforms and enable them to independently create publications, videos and websites, school officials said.
“Digital communications will provide students with the means to conceptualize and implement media design, develop problem-solving techniques, and obtain a master of writing and presentation abilities,” said Dan Falabella, chair of the Digital Media Department. “The skills gained include an understanding of various digital means of communication and information, affording students the opportunity to integrate new communicative practices into their liberal arts education.”
Coursework will teach theories that guide digital production and advertising and will allow students to apply these theories in such areas as writing, production, research, illustration and design.
As a result, Albright said its digital communications majors will be well prepared for careers in a variety of fields, including:
- Graphic design
- Computer animation
- Digital filmmaking
- Web design and development
- Online journalism
- Digital marketing
- Social media strategy and implementation
The new major is a combined offering from Albright’s communications program and Digital Media Department.
