A sendoff ceremony was held Sunday morning in Berks County as more than 100 Army reservists got ready to head to Afghanistan.
The farewell ceremony was held at the Governor Mifflin Intermediate School in Cumru Township for the U.S. Army’s 333rd Engineer Company.
Most of the company’s 140 members live in the Reading area.
Pa. Sen. Judy Schwank said a few words, as well as Reading Mayor Vaughn Spencer.
The 333rd will be heading to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
The unit works on construction and engineering, including road work, finishing grade for roads and airfields and surface and drainage maintenance.
