Bern police release sketch of man wanted for questioning in home invasion, burglaries
Power cut off to home; 92-year-old woman, great niece robbed at gunpoint
Police are asking for the public's help with identifying a man they want to question in connection with a violent home invasion and a string of burglaries in Bern Twp., Berks Co.
A resident spotted the man looking into the rear windows of homes in the 300 block of South Tulpehocken Road in the Greenfields area of the township on the morning of Oct. 18, several hours before a home invasion robbery a block away.
The man, depicted by police in a sketch released Tuesday, is described as being white with a heavy 5:00 shadow. He's in his 30s and stands about six feet tall. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, white or light gray sweat pants and a black knit hat.
Anyone who can identify the man depicted in the sketch is asked to call Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913.
Police last week urged township residents to be on alert after a 92-year-old woman and her great niece were robbed at gunpoint inside their home. The intruder, police said, cut off electricity to the home before he made his way inside around 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 18.
The robber, police said, made off with an undetermined amount of jewelry. Neither victim was physically harmed during the ordeal, police said.
