The two teenagers being sought in the robbery of a blind college student have surrendered to police.

The boy and girl, both 17, turned themselves in separately on Friday after surveillance images of them were aired on 69 News and posted on

The two teens were walking together in the 200 block of Franklin Street, near the campus of Reading Area Community College, around 1 p.m. Thursday when police said the male suspect struck the victim on his head and body and both robbed him.

The victim, a 31-year-old RACC student, did not require medical attention, said police, adding that he was targeted by the teens for his cell phone and laptop computer.

The male suspect is facing robbery and harassment charges; the female suspect is being charged with robbery and conspiracy.

Police initially said the girl would not face charges in the case. That changed, however, when investigators said they reviewed additional surveillance video and determined that she also played a role in the robbery.

The girl surrendered to police, they said, after her mother saw the surveillance images on 69 News.
