SPRING TWP., Pa. -

National Penn Bank is one step closer to moving some employees to Spring Township.

Friday morning officials broke ground for the bank's new 48,000 square foot business center on Broadcasting Road. The building will have three floors, offices and a training center.

About 125 employees will work at the building when construction is complete next fall.

"This is a major regional hub and its major presence," said Scott Fainor, President and CEO of National Penn Bank. "We hold very solid market share within this community, and I'll tell you, we couldn't be more excited."

National Penn announced plans to build a facility in Spring Township in October, when it also announced plans to relocate its headquarters from Boyertown to Allentown.
