Eleni Dimitriou-Geishauser enters race for Berks judge
A woman who followed in her father's footsteps and became a defense attorney in Berks County now wants to become a judge.
Eleni Dimitriou Geishauser on Tuesday announced her plans to enter the race for one of two seats in the Berks County Court of Common Pleas.
"I believe I can serve the people of Berks County with an impartiality and fairness that abides by the laws of our community, our state, and our country,” said Geishauser, who cited her many years of experience handling both criminal and family law cases.
Geishauser is the daughter of the late Emmanuel "Manny" Dimitriou, the first public defender in Berks County, with whom she worked many years.
"My father loved this community, he loved the law and he passed that love onto me," said Geishauser. "I am running for judge because now more than ever we need judges who understand the complexities of the times we live in, the difficulties that people face in their lives, the struggles that affect families especially our children and who look to the judicial system for relief and justice."
Geishauser currently shares a law practice with her husband of almost 20 years, Kurt Geishauser.
