Filmmakers discuss challenges with officials in Reading

READING, Pa. -

Some documentary filmmakers met with Reading city officials Friday to talk about ways to revitalize the city.

The Seattle-based filmmakers are in town for the Greater Reading Film Festival. Their documentaries, "Shift Change" and "We are not Ghosts," premiered at the Reading IMAX Friday night.

Both films focus on revitalizing cities that are facing economic challenges..

The filmmakers met Friday afternoon with Mayor Vaughn Spencer and other leaders for a roundtable discussion about problems that cities like Reading are facing.

"There are a lot of both committed people here and a lot of resources, in terms of people with different skills and different perspectives. There's a lot of potential in this city," said Melissa Young, documentary producer.

The Greater Reading Film Festival runs through Sunday.
