Gov. Tom Corbett joined the Pennsylvania Fraternal Order of Police in honoring four law enforcement officers from across the state who were killed in the line of duty this past year.
Berks County Sheriff's Deputy Kyle Pagerly and Freemansburg police Ofc. Robert Lasso were among them.
Pagerly was shot and killed while attempting to serve a warrant in Albany Township last June; Lasso was shot and killed outside a home in Freemansburg in August.
Meantime, another tribute to Pagerly is pedaling to New Jersey.
Current and former members of the Los Angeles Police Department, one of whom is a former member of the Berks County Sheriff's Department, are biking from Berks County to Somerset, N.J.
Before starting the 100-mile trek in Pagerly's memory, officers met the deputy's wife and daughter.
"The thin blue line reaches throughout the whole United States, every law enforcement officer," said Chuck Buttitta, a retired sergeant from the LAPD. "We lose one, we lose a family member. That's why we're here today, to honor him the family and this department.
In New Jersey, the cyclists will join other officers and bike to the police memorial in Washington, D.C.
