TILDEN TWP., Pa. -

An accident closed a stretch of Interstate 78 for more than an hour Friday afternoon.

The crash happened shortly before 4 p.m. in the westbound lanes near milemarker 29 in Tilden Township, Berks County, near Hamburg.

Initial reports from the scene were that a tractor trailer hit three other vehicles that had stopped because of a tree down on the highway.

Rescue crews were directed to the scene by going west in the eastbound lanes, but officials have not released any information about injuries.

A PennDOT camera at the Route 61 interchange showed a significant backup of traffic on I-78.
