Reading police released new details Wednesday night in the case of a man shot in the chest inside his own home.
The gunfire erupted around 12:20 p.m. Wednesday inside a home in the 500 block of South 18th Street.
The victim is a 48-year-old man, and police say, at last check, he was listed in stable condition.
Neighbors say the victim was screaming for help, and bleeding, in the middle of the street.
While this chaotic scene was unfolding, and neighbors rushed to save the victim's life, police say there was a 19-year-old woman tied up inside the victim's home, screaming for help.
Investigators say the 19-year-old woman is a friend of the victim, unrelated to the crime, and was just at the home visiting.
A neighbor untied the woman, and she was taken down to police for questioning, police said.
Authorities say they believe the shooting may have been drug-related because they could smell drugs inside the residence.
Police say they are currently working on a description of two, possibly three men, responsible for this crime.
Anybody with more information on this shooting is asked to call Crime Alert: Berks County.
The number is 877-373-9913.
