Met-Ed provides water, ice to customers without electricity
Customers of Met-Ed who are still experiencing a power outage as a result of Saturday's snowstorm can receive two bags of ice and four gallons of water at no charge at any Giant or Redner's store in the Met-Ed service territory.
Met-Ed reminded customers who have not yet reported their outage to use the automated outage reporting line – 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877).
Met-Ed officials reminded people to never touch downed power lines. They should always assume downed wires are carrying electricity.
Customers should never try to remove trees or limbs from power lines because they could conduct electricity, officials said. They should wait for emergency services or utility crews to arrive, Met-Ed officials said.
Met-Ed serves approximately 560,000 customers in 13 Pennsylvania counties, including Berks, Lehigh, Montgomery and Northampton.
