A Reading man is accused of going on a robbery spree in a 24-hour span, targeting six businesses in Berks County, police said.
Shaune Mannings, 40, robbed five businesses in Reading and Mount Penn and tried to rob a supermarket in Reading, police said.
He was arrested inside a house in the 1200 block of Muhlenberg Street in Reading on Saturday, officials said.
According to authorities, Mannings would ask the clerk for change, and then grab the cash from the opened register.
Police said he has been linked to the following cases:
-A robbery at the Turkey Hill in the 400 block of North 13th Street in Reading on Friday.
-A robbery at the Family Dollar in the 900 block of North Sixth Street in Reading at around 7:20 p.m. Friday.
-A robbery attempt at the Giant supermarket in the 1100 block of Rockland Street in Reading at around 10:30 p.m. Friday
-A robbery at the Wyndham-Abraham Lincoln Hotel in the 100 block of North Fifth Street in Reading at around 3:40 a.m. Saturday
-A robbery at the Boston House restaurant in the 900 block of Penn Street at around 7 a.m. Saturday
-A robbery at the Subway in the 2200 block of Howard Boulevard in Mount Penn at around 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
Reading police said an alert sergeant help nab Manning.
Several of the locations had surveillance cameras and we circulated those photos to other officers in the Reading Police Department," Sgt. Matthew Schappell said.
"One of our sergeants was able to recognize him which gave us a foot up in identifying him and helping identifying the victims of these crimes."
