Police resolve standoff with man in Laureldale
Injured woman taken from home to hospital, officials say
Police have resolved a standoff with a man inside a home in Berks County.
Officers were originally called Thursday afternoon to the 3400 block of Freemont Street in Laureldale for the report of a domestic disturbance.
A woman who was apparently injured in the incident was taken to the hospital, but a man involved refused to come outside.
Several police officers and sheriff's deputies surrounded the home for fear the man may be armed, officials said.
After some time of trying to talk the man into giving himself up, police entered the home and found him passed out in the basement, officials said. He was taken into custody without incident.
