Family and friends are beginning to say goodbye to the soldier from Berks County who died in Afghanistan last week.

A public gathering was held Sunday evening for Chief Warrant Ofc. Jarett Yoder at Calvary United Church of Christ in Reading. He will be laid to rest Monday at the Forest Hills Memorial Park in Exeter Township.

The procession will begin at the John Feeney Funeral Home on North Fourth Street at 11 a.m.

The graveside service is scheduled for noon.

Yoder and another Pennsylvania National Guard soldier -- Chief Warrant Officer Matthew Ruffner of the Harrisburg area -- died when their helicopter crashed in Afghanistan, officials said.

Yoder was a 2005 graduate of Oley Valley High School. He was 26-years-old.
