READING, Pa. -

Officials are trying to clear up confusion about yard waste collections in Reading.

They said they've been getting a lot of questions ever since a brochure about the collections was mailed to residents.

Yard waste will be picked up on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, said public works officials. The collections will not affect trash or recycling schedules.

Yard waste includes bags of leaves, shrub clippings or tied-up bundles of branches and twigs.

"The piles should be no more than about four feet in length, about three feet high. Once again, something manageable for one person," said Kyle Zeiber, operations division manager, Reading Public Works Department.

Yard waste should be placed in recyclable bags and left on the curb.

The city will stop collecting loose leaves at the end of the month.
