Police are on the hunt for the man who robbed a bank at the Berkshire Mall in Wyomissing.
The holdup was reported shortly after 5:30 p.m. at the Santander Bank on the western side of the mall on State Hill Road.
"I was Christmas shopping over at the Berkshire Mall and in for a bite to eat at Ruby Tuesday and one of the gentlemen who was also eating over there came back and told everyone to stay put," said Sinking Spring shopper Anne Dougherty.
What Anne Dougherty did not know at the time was that the Santander Bank right next door was being robbed.
Police tell us a black man approached a teller with a note demanding money. They say the robber threatened to shoot the teller but did not show a weapon.
"I was frightened and right before that I was in Boscov's. But I mean, everyone just kind of carried on. You know, I guess they saw the police there," said Dougherty.
Other shoppers in the area were shaken up.
"It is terrible. It is scary. If I had children I would not want to come out if something like that happened," said Temple shopper Sky Scott.
And shoppers say it is even more shocking that it happened in Wyomissing.
"I understand we are around the holidays and people need money and everything but it is just horrible. It is just not the right thing to do," said Scott.
"I just moved here from Philly. So coming from Philly I am always prepared for whatever is going to happen. But you never think that it would happen right in your back yard here in Berks County," said Dougherty.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913. A cash reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
