SHILLINGTON, Pa. -

A man who lost his daughter in a school shooting in Colorado has come to Shillington in hopes of helping first responders, educators and students make local schools safer.

In a crisis, John-Michael Keyes said, it's important for everyone to understand the terms being used, specifically terms like lock down, lockout, evacuation and shelter.

Keyes' daughter Emily was shot and killed by an intruder at Platte Canyon High School in Colorado in 2006. The loss inspired him to start the "I Love U Guys" Foundation.

"It's really about switching from the 'what if' to the 'how to,' how to respond no matter what the crisis," said Keyes.

A presentation for community members is planned for Monday at 7 p.m. at Governor Mifflin High School.
