READING, Pa. -

Police are looking for two men in connection with the shooting death of a Reading man over the weekend.

Police have obtained warrants for the arrests of William O. Roman-Martinez and Juan Carlos Otero-Roman for their role in the deadly shooting of Maximino Cruz Jr.

Cruz, 36, was gunned down during an argument in the 1300 block of Mulberry Street in Reading around 3 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Officers arrived on the scene to find Cruz's body in a breezeway between two row homes in the block.

According to the arrest warrant, Cruz argued with Roman-Martinez, left, and then returned and resumed the altercation with him and Roberto Pineyro.

Police said while Pineyro challenged Cruz to a fist fight, Otero-Roman came out of his home holding an aluminum baseball bat.

Otero-Roman walked toward Cruz and raised the bat to hit Cruz when witnesses said Cruz pulled out a handgun and fired a shot in Otero-Roman's direction, according to court documents.

Witnesses told police that before Cruz pulled out his gun, Roman-Martinez had a gun in his hand and began firing at Cruz.

Cruz was hit in the back by rounds fired by Roman-Martinez as Cruz ran away, police said.

Roman-Martinez, 31, and Otero-Roman, 27, both of 1313 Mulberry Street, are each facing charges of criminal homicide, first and third degree murder, and aggravated assault.

Anyone with information about their whereabouts is asked to call Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913. Anonymous tipsters who provide information that leads to an arrest could receive a cash reward of up to $10,000.

Pineyro was not charged in the incident.
