DOYLESTOWN, Pa. -

A young woman has died more than three years after being seriously injured while being dragged by a truck driven by her ex-boyfriend, authorities said.

Christine McGhee passed away on Sunday at Doylestown Hospital in Bucks County, said the coroner, who ruled her death a homicide.

The coroner determined McGhee, 23, of Warminster, Bucks Co., died as a result of brain injuries she suffered in December 2008, when her ex-boyfriend, Michael Morrone, dragged her with his pickup truck across a parking lot on the campus of Kutztown University in Berks County.

At the time, McGhee was a sophomore at K.U.

A jury later found Morrone guilty of aggravated assault. The New Jersey man was sentenced to five to 20 years in prison and ordered to pay the family $2.2 million in restitution for medical costs.

State police will now conduct an investigation to determine whether homicide charges should be filed against Morrone, said Berks County District Attorney John Adams.
