A three-vehicle accident is slowing traffic on Route 422 in eastern Berks County.

The crash happened around 9:20 a.m. Friday when a dump truck on the shoulder of 422 at Monocacy Creek/Limekiln Road in Amity Township was struck from behind by a westbound vehicle, police said.

The striking vehicle then spun into traffic and was struck by another vehicle.

The drivers of both moving vehicles were transported to local hospitals, but officials had no information about the extent of their injuries.

The driver of the dump truck was uninjured.

Both lanes of Route 422 West were closed for nearly an hour. One lane remained closed while crews cleared the scene.
