Students will go through orientation this weekend before the start of classes on Monday.
Freshmen also received a warm welcome at Alvernia University in southwest Reading.
Upperclassmen did the "Cha Cha Slide" as they helped new students move into their dorms.
Alvernia's Class of 2018 is made up of 389 students. Ninety-four of them are from other states, and one student is from Ireland.
Five of the students are Reading High graduates getting full scholarships as part of the Reading Collegiate Scholarship Program.
