Amber Alert canceled; Dania, Janeth Perez found safe
Suspect, girls' father, Hostyn Perez-Corza, faced deportation, officials say
An Amber Alert issued early Friday has been canceled with the safe return of two sisters who were abducted from their Berks County home.
The alert was canceled, according to the Amber Alert website. Both children were recovered safely and returned with their mother.
The suspect, the girls' father, Hostyn Perez-Corza, is in custody.
The girls, 6-year-old Dania, and 8-year-old Janeth Perez were taken from their West Reading home around 9:30 p.m. Thursday by their father, Perez-Corza, 33, police said.
A person at a motel in Bern Township alerted authorities to a vehicle in the parking lot that seemed similar to the one Perez-Corza was driving, police said.
When officers arrived at the Quality Inn, 2017 Bernville Rd., they said they saw Perez-Corza with the children. A struggle ensued and one officer suffered a slight injury.
Authorities said at a news conference that a detainer warrant was issued for Perez-Corza by immigration officials and he faces deportation.
