A man threatened his 11-month-old son and other members of his family with a butcher knife, police said.

State police were called shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sunday for the report of a domestic dispute at a home in the 100 block of Old State Road in Alsace Twp., Berks Co.

Troopers were told that Austin Stofflet, armed with a butcher knife, was holding his grandparents, his girlfriend and his 11-month-old son captive inside the home and threatening to kill them, according to court documents.

Troopers arrived on the scene and managed to apprehend Stofflet without incident. They said the dispute began when Stofflet's girlfriend returned home after leaving without his permission.

Stofflet, 21, was charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He was committed to the Berks County Jail on $20,000 bail.
