Plummeting temps have many on edge about icy roads.
After many streets across the region were plowed after Tuesday's snow storm, the remaining slush froze as the temperatures quickly dropped.
"I've never seen it freeze over this fast, and we've been here almost eight years," said Shannon Owens, from Exeter Twp., Berks Co.
"They just plowed it maybe 45 minutes ago, and within 45 minutes, it's already ice," said Miguel Diaz, also from Exeter Twp.
Officials in Reading said they usually keep about 80 tons of salt on hand, but have placed an order for more.
Authorities say they expect two shipments of salt to arrive on Wednesday.
"We think we're going to need them because they're calling for more weather this weekend. We're preparing while the storm's still going on," said Ralph Johnson, head of public works for the city of Reading.
