A Spring Township couple are behind bars for allegedly using a charity's credit cards for their own use.
Jerry Cox and Jacqueline Hallowell were arrested Wednesday and charged with 22 counts each of access device fraud, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and conspiracy, police announced Thursday.
Cox, who worked as a facilities manager for Easy Does It Inc. in Bern Township, was permitted to open and have access to the non-profit charity's credit cards, police said.
During and after his employment, Cox, 49, and Hallowell, 50, used the charity's accounts to spend more than $2,800 at area merchants, police said.
Cox and Hallowell were each committed to the Berks County Jail on $25,000 bail.
Easy Does It is an organization that helps individuals and their families as they recover from the effects of addiction.
