WYOMISSING, Pa. -

Two people were injured in a wild accident that stopped traffic on a stretch of the Warren Street Bypass in Berks County late Thursday morning.

The crash happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the bypass, in front of the Inn at Reading, in Wyomissing.

An SUV, attempting to take the ramp to the West Shore Bypass, went off the highway, traveled up a grassy embankment and struck a bridge abutment before rolling back onto the highway, police said.

Two people in the SUV were taken to a hospital for treatment of broken bones, police said.

Police closed the bypass at the Schuylkill Avenue interchange in northwest Reading until crews could clear the scene. The highway reopened around 12:30 p.m.
