National Penn Bancshares has chosen a veteran banker to lead its commercial real estate team.

Daniel Wiekrykas has been promoted to executive vice president and director of National Penn's commercial real estate lending group, the Boyertown-based bank announced Monday.

Wiekrykas, of Exeter Township, will be based at the bank’s new business center in Spring Township, where bank officials said he will lead team members in the development of profitable relationships throughout National Penn's marketplace.

"Dan has excellent relationships within the business community and commercial real estate industry," said David Kennedy, senior executive vice president and chief banking officer. "His broad experience and focus on relationship building and core revenue growth will benefit both customers and National Penn."

Wiekrykas has more than 25 years of financial experience. He joined National Penn in 2008 as a commercial real estate (CRE) credit officer and was then named head of the CRE special assets group. Wiekrykas also worked at M&T Bank and the former Meridian Bank.
