Expansion of Berk Wiper International to help create, retain dozens of jobs
A Montgomery County company will move forward with an expansion project that is expected to help create and retain dozens of jobs in Berks County, officials announced Monday.
Berk Wiper International, a manufacturer of disposable wiping cloths for more than 35 years, will acquire and renovate an existing 275,600-square-foot facility in Boyertown. The company will invest a total of $3,284,000 in the project, which officials said they expect to create 29 new jobs and retain 28 existing employees.
The Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) will provide a $1,956,000, 15-year, low-interest loan at 1.5 percent to the Greater Berks Development Fund on behalf of Berk Wiper International.
"My administration is committed to putting Pennsylvanians back to work by partnering with employers throughout the state that are growing and creating jobs,” Corbett said. “This is the second jobs announcement in Berks County this month, bringing nearly 60 jobs to the region."
The Corbett administration announced on July 10 that Prizer-Painter, a Reading-based manufacturer of high-end residential and commercial cooking ranges and ventilation equipment, will invest more than $3 million in the construction of a 42,000-square-foot office building. The project, officials said, will help create 29 jobs and retain 87 others.
