A nine-year-old girl is on the mend after part of a ceiling fell on her in Reading.

The girl was taken to the hospital shortly after the ceiling caved in Tuesday morning in the 400 block of South 11th Street.

"I felt the water," said Richard Morales, the 9-year-old's father. "So as soon as I look up it just collapsed on us."

The girl was released from the hospital Tuesday afternoon.

Family members say the she suffered minor injuries to her neck, back and arm.

Morales said he and his family have only been paying rent at the home for about four months.

Morales adds he has had problems with flooding in the basement, but he said things in his kitchen looked normal before the collapse.

Codes employees say the landlord has been cited.
