READING, Pa. -

They were hoping to break the Guinness World record for the largest salsa dance.

About 1200 dancers came out for the attempt at the Berks Salsa Fest Dance for the Arts Sunday afternoon in Reading.

Mexico currently holds the world record so salsa dancers here were hoping to bring it back to the U.S., but looks like they might have come up a bit short.

Official numbers will be out later this week.

The event kicked off National Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrating the culture and supporting the arts.
