Some fifth grade students at Governor Mifflin Intermediate School in Shillington have solved a history mystery.
The superintendent found some documents dating back to the 1790s....
Students had to decipher the documents, and learned they were land deeds for areas in Berks and Jefferson counties.
According to teacher Sara Eastman, "At that time no county offices processed land deeds, it all had to be done through the governor, and Thomas Mifflin was the governor at that time, who our district is named after, so Thomas Mifflin's signature and stamp is on each of the documents."
The school is planning to put the documents on display.
