READING, Pa. -

A hazardous materials incident created some cause for concern at the Pennsylvania State Office Building in downtown Reading on Monday.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the building at 625 Cherry St. shortly after 2:15 p.m. Monday.

Initial reports from the scene were that the incident involved a package that contained a suspicious powder in a second floor mail room.

First responders isolated several people who possibly came in contact with the powder when the package was opened. They also shut off the building's ventilation system to prevent it from spreading.

Everyone was kept inside the building until emergency management crews could examine the substance and determine that it wasn't harmful. They identified the powder as glue dust, officials said.

Officials gave the all-clear a little more than an hour after they responded to the scene.
