State Police in Berks County say a historic farmhouse appears to be a total loss following a fire that quickly engulfed the home Saturday night.
The home, located in the 5000 block of Oley Turnpike Road, sustained more than $250,000 in damage, according to a release issued by State Police on Sunday.
Firefighters had their hands full with a blaze that engulfed not only the home, but also adjacent buildings.
The fire broke out around 7:40 p.m. Saturday.
Numerous fire departments from Berks and Montgomery counties battled the blaze.
No one was home at the time of the fire and no one was injured.
Police said several pets died in the fire.
The Red Cross said it is assisting the family of three who lived in the home.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
