ONTELAUNEE TWP., Pa. -

A speeding driver was talking on a cell phone when he ran a red light and caused an accident involving two other vehicles, including a tractor trailer, police said.

The accident happened around 12:15 p.m. Thursday at Route 61 and Ashley Way in Ontelaunee Twp., Berks Co., just south of Leesport.

The driver of a white sedan was traveling north on Route 61 at an excessive speed when he ignored the red light and caused the crash, which also involved an SUV and a Coca-Cola tractor trailer.

The accident caused the truck to jackknife in the intersection.

The drivers of the sedan and the SUV were transported to the hospital for treatment of what police described as non-life-threatening injuries.

The sedan's driver was cited for careless driving and the red light violation, police said.
